A Word A Week Challenge – Hat

This week’s “a word a week challenge” from A Word in Your Ear, is Hat. The hat photos you can find on the A Word in Your Ear site are wonderful, so I was a bit reluctant to post. However, I will share with you some hats I recently captured in Myanmar. hats1

These two young women were dressed in beautifully coloured costumes, but the hats were what caught my eye.

And, if you ever want to see great hats, just visit a Buskashi game in Afghanistan! Buskashi is played on horseback in a way that is similar to polo; however, rather than a ball, they use a dead sheep or calf. Men wear fur, what5restling helmets, sheepskin, scarves, or anything else they can find to cover their heads. Here are two examples – the first from Kabul, the second from Panjshir. The man on the right in the second photo won the match and was about to be presented with a television

Hope you enjoy these. Take a minute to check out other ‘hats’ on A Word in Your Ear.

How well does a dead sheep or a calf roll? Surely they have balls there don’t they?

It takes more of a man to hoist up a calf than a ball 😉

I think I like the russian pilot helmet. The first image of the two women is very beautiful photo.
